The Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club presented awards to its members and the Chico State women’s golf team at the Christmas Giving and Awards Brunch. The awards were given to recognize outstanding achievements and contributions to the club and the community. The club’s president, Sarah, presented the awards, highlighting the members’ dedication and commitment to the club and its mission. The awards included:

    • Most Improved Junior Golfer

      The Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club is committed to giving back to the community. The club’s annual Christmas Giving and Awards Brunch is a testament to its commitment to philanthropy and community involvement.

      The team of Jayne Bunting, Val Gregory, and Darlene Thomasson won the ABCD, Blind Draw, Two Better-Ball shamble format tournament.

      The Pro-Points Tournament

      The Pro-Points Tournament was a highly anticipated event for the Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club. The tournament was a culmination of the club’s efforts throughout the year, with members competing in a series of matches to determine the top-scoring team. The tournament was a great opportunity for members to showcase their skills and compete against each other in a fun and competitive environment.       The ABCD, Blind Draw, Two Better-Ball Shamble Format Tournament

      The ABCD, Blind Draw, Two Better-Ball shamble format tournament was a unique and exciting event for the Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club. The tournament was held in a blind draw format, where members were paired randomly with other members to form teams.

      Lynn Sutherland also won the longest drive on No. 7. 7 with a distance of 215 yards. Lynn Sutherland also won the closest to the pin on No. 7 with a hole-in-one.

      Gary Kollenborn, was playing in a foursome with Dick Brooks, Neil Bettencourt and Joe Garcia, over on the west side at The Links at Rolling Hills, when he scored his first hole-in-one. Kollenborn hit a perfect 140-yard, 6-iron into the cup on the 14th hole. An interesting antidote is that besides the 1 on Kollenborn’s scorecard, Brooks had a birdie 2, Garcia made par for a 3, and Bettencourt made bogie for a 4. James Long aced the 2nd hole at Bidwell last week. Long selected his pitching wedge for the 128-yard tee shot that disappeared into the cup for his first hole-in-one. Buddy Hobbs, Clayton Hobbs and Scotty Hobbs attested to Long’s perfect tee shot.

      The crowd was in awe, and the players were equally stunned. The shot was so impressive that it was replayed on the Bidwell Golf Course’s social media channels, garnering thousands of views and likes.

      The Shot Heard ‘Round the World

      The incredible 130-yard, 8-iron approach shot by Christopher Malone on the par 4, 3rd hole at Bidwell Golf Course has left golf enthusiasts and spectators alike in awe.
