Cam Davis Returns to Masters with Optimism

After four consecutive missed cuts, Cam Davis has returned to the Masters, a tournament that sparks his creative side, with a renewed sense of optimism and determination. The 30-year-old Australian golfer, one of five in the Masters hunt from Thursday, has been working on his game and is looking forward to a fresh start at a venue that he has fond memories of. One of the key factors that drew Davis to the Masters is its layout, which he believes encourages creativity and rewards players who hit long off the tee and flight their irons. He has played well at the Masters in the past, including tying for 12th place last year, and is eager to get back into the mix and do it all again. AAP Logo
But Davis’s journey to the Masters has not been without its challenges. He began the season strongly, contending at The Sentry and Pebble Beach, but his form dropped away in the middle of the season. He took a break from golf to reset and recharge, and now he is back and more determined than ever to make a strong showing. “I’m going through one of those periods where you feel like you try to do everything right and are still not getting things to turn the right direction,” Davis said in an interview with AAP. “So I took a few weeks off … I just put the clubs away for a little bit to let my body reset.”
Despite the setbacks, Davis remains optimistic and focused on his game. He has been working hard on his prep and swing, and is confident that he has the tools to succeed at the Masters. “I’m looking forward to getting back into it and doing it all again,” Davis said. “The Masters can bring out the best in you, and that’s what I’m looking for this week. I played well here last year, so looking forward to getting back into it and doing it all again.”

Davis and Jason Day, a former Masters runner-up, were midway through their practice sessions when the horn blew to suspend play due to heavy rain and the threat of thunderstorms. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Davis remains optimistic and focused on his game. “The fairways are pretty wide, but you’ve got to place it around a little bit, use the slopes,” Davis said. “I like thinking golf courses, and this is one of the best fits for that sort of golf.”
